What is a Gobo?

A gobo is a stencil or template placed inside or in front of a light source to control the shape of the emitted light. Lighting designers typically use them with stage lighting instruments to manipulate the shape of the light cast over a space or object—for example to produce a pattern of leaves on a stage floor.

While we’re a big fan of real chandeliers at special events, we also love trying new ideas.

Reddit user FilmaNoire swapped regular chandeliers for Gobo chandeliers, and the result was fantastic!

Using Polycyc fabric to display the Gobo Chandeliers, they used lekos with various degree barrels ranging from 10° to 36°. Each banner had one leko hung from pipe.

Kudos to FilmaNoire for such a creative idea!
